JEWELRY GLOSSARY - -
VASELINE GLASS: A yellow-green glass that is made by adding a small amount of Uranium Dioxide to the glass; it is verifiable by testing with a UV (ultraviolet) light
VERMEIL: Gold wash over metal to give the appearance of gold
VICTORIAN: 1837-1901; a period of jewelry making with many styles and themes
VINAIGRETTE: Decorative pendant, charm, or bauble with pierced openings; it often contains a small piece of cotton or cloth soaked with fragrance
VINTAGE: Definition varies but usually defined as between 20 and 100 years old
VULCANITE: Hard, black, vulcanized rubber substance
