This is a classically beautifully Victorian mourning pin in the shape of a hand holding flowers. I have to confess I don't know what it's made of. I've tested for jet, gutta percha and vulcanite, but the tests were inconclusive. The material is light-weight and reads more brown than black.

From the front, condition is very good to excellent but there is a repair on the reverse. The original c-clasp has been replaced with a silver tone safety clasp. The pin stem and base of the original clasp are gold filled.

There are no marks or hallmarks. The pin measures 2 3/8" x 7/8"
